Based on the post... i commend him on a valiant effort but this is just another step in the changes to come as Money will slowly become a big factor moving forward in a developers ability to find safe hosting sites for any plug-ins their creating that can have the argument made about it allowing the end user to stream or download licensed materials...

Its arguably one thing to create those types of plug-ins but asking for money whether donations or not opens up a whole different legal aspect of damages and reasons against it...

Why'd ya think they went after TVA? its not like the owners of TVA actually created anything... it was because they were making money off of creating a safe harbor for the people that were doing so and giving them a distribution place... in this case it was ZemTV... and in the near future here in North America i'm sure there will be a lot more plug-ins and their developers come into the cross hairs... North America's not like a lot of other places in the world where copy rights and licensing is like the wild west... once one starts the rest will follow... ya can just bet theres a ton of other license holders sitting waiting and watching to see the Dish Network suit unfold and its out come...

Just remember it was the USA government backed media industry that went after Kim Dotcom and how the file locker sites as a method to compete amongst themselves gave the ability for uploaders to create a revenue stream for themselves based on how much they uploaded and the traffic to the data centers it generated...

Point being is that there is a added value to something the minute money is tied to it for any reason... and the developers are Wise to start paying attention to that because i am sure moving forward that mention of money will have a effect on who ends up on the next hit list...

People are making money in various ways off creating and running sites and servers hosting out in the public for the sake of making money one way or another while giving the plug-in writers the ability to maintain Kodi's Own legal method of automatically updating plug-ins... those plug-ins by Kodi's own definitions cant be officially maintained by their own servers for legal reasons...

Now there is no reason why moving forward tho that these types of plug-ins can't be created and hosted privately but its going to require people give up on the idea of any safe form of automatic updates on a open public system like it currently is... and ultimately this again is going to come back to money because as was pointed out in the tweat... its not cheap to host things when theres a lot of traffic...

There lies the question... as to how does someone thats well meaning find a way to solicit for help in funding such a good and meaningful endeavor...

Money be damned  >:(

In the end all these addons are is a glorified way to stream torrents.  I'll go back to d/l torrent files before I start forking out much or any money.

Just to update everyone, devs have moved back to github but Smash is keeping his server online till the end of the month. Rumour has it fences are mended and Smash will keep his TCO link long-term but we will see.

It's the Covenant addon that's v1.1.1, if you update Colossus it will update Covenant and the Smash repo.

Catching up on news, I had installed from mediarepos.net/tco
Will I now need tinyurl.com/colossusrepo  instead?
I try to get from the right sources and have so far had tinyurl.com/bubkodi, noobsandnerds, mediarepos.net/kodistuff

The Tinyurl should be the right longterm solution. Unfortunately, politics drove the TCO repo offline. We were optimistic about it but that's life

I think a lot of people are confused. this site alone has about 6 or more conversations going on about this subject.. its too bad they  were not on ONE only so people can make some sense of it.
Personally I installed the Colossus Repo and Covenant last nite in about 3minutes. all good all working well. done and done..

There are many threads, but in the past few days there have been many changes to the repos and where they were hosted. In the middle of all that confusion there were updates to the repos and to covenant. As of last night there were still changes going on to the colossus repo trying to fix the issue some people were having not being able to see the zip for the repo.
Glad you got it installed, I hope everyone does

Hi. I'm new to this site as TVAddons no longer exists. I've been going thru the installations for all the reiterations for Exodus, Smash, and Colossus, etc. One question, does Colossus not work with Trakt so I can access my favorite TV list? It doesn't work for me. I only installed this app last night and uninstalled Exodus, unfortunately, because Exodus still worked, although it seemed the repos were all emptied of their links...Colossus doesn't really work well, it seems. But, as I said, it's brand new for me. Thank you for your input. I'm getting lost in all the brouhaha.
