Message when running several addons...
« on: June 28, 2018, 08:41:37 am »
I am getting the following message in several addons when choosing a menu selection:

The following mode already exists
Main

Any ideas?

I have the same message on three Windows machines.  I have started from scratch with Kodi several times and still get the message.  Not much help to Google the problem.

Maybe post a link to a debug log...might be someone here that can decipher it.

*IF* you are using Kodi 18 Alpha 3 (maybe some Alpha 2 versions as well) you need to modify the addon.xml file for each addon that returns the error. You need to open the addon.xml file with a text editor and add a line of code right below a line that appears like this:

Code: [Select]
<extension point="xbmc.service" library="service.py" start="startup" />
   <extension point="xbmc.addon.metadata">

Make it appear like this:

Code: [Select]

<extension point="xbmc.service" library="service.py" start="startup" />
   <extension point="xbmc.addon.metadata">
   <reuselanguageinvoker>false</reuselanguageinvoker>

With Placenta and Neptune Rising I didn't get that error message. What was happening was I would select a video item from the list and it would immediately return "No Stream Available" when clicking on Play. Clicking on Play a second time would result in a scrape and links to the item. I added the code and right now it seems to have fixed MY issue. I did get "The following mode already exists Main" with a different addon and it also fixed it as well.

As I understand things this is all due to a code change in Kodi 18 and is affecting Kodi Official addons as well as 3rd party addons. It seems to be under debate as to keeping it (supposed to make things faster) or dropping it.

That fix appears to work.  I am very grateful for your assistance.

Well it seems to...I've added it to Placenta and Neptune. But I noticed I needed to reauthorize trakt in Placenta. I could NOT get it to work. I had to copy the settings file from another placenta install to get my trakt lists working. I don't know if the problem was a result of adding that line of code or not. I suspect NOT as I've encountered this before with Placenta and Neptune. Just a FYI so keep your eyes open....
