Exodus / Covenant freeze in prime time
« on: August 12, 2017, 09:54:41 am »
I'm having consitent problems playing any sources at prime time (7-9pm Aust EST). The source will load, get stuck on the very first frame and the buffering icon comes up and infinitely sticks at 0%...

I have an NVIDIA Shield Android TV.

The same sources play fine (in 1080p) in the middle of the day. In the evening other programs (like Netflix) stream just fine. I have fast, reliable internet (22.5Mbps). I've run the Ares Wizard and maxed out the video cache for my system, I've subscribed to Real Debrid, I've tried Exodus and Covenant, I've tried going through a VPN to exclude source specific throttling from my ISP. Nothing seems to work!

Any other Aussies out there having the same issues? Am I just too far away from the sources geographically??

Any ideas why this is happening, or more importantly, if there is a fix??

Sounds like it's not your problem but server overload. Buffering factor ain't going to help a bit in a case like this. Comparing it to Netflix is like apples to oranges. Netflix has big bucks tied up in servers so this doesn't happen.

Thanks, is this a common problem for everyone? Is there anything that can be done about it??

Sure it can be an issue for others. I experience it and just keep trying different sources until I get one that streams well enough. Try ones that have captchas or a premium (paid) service. Sometimes you can download the video if the addon you use has that option.
